We all have a role to play at work, hence why we are employed in the first place. The work that we do in the office means that each person has a particular skill and if you love the work that you do, you will want the freedom to get the job done the best way you know how. Although at times, you can get frustrated when you feel like your ways of doing things are always overlooked or never implemented.
You have to learn to speak up, but we don’t mean haphazardly voice out your frustration, no. There are ways to go about it when you feel that you have more to contribute and just need for your ideas to be heard.
Make room for someone else’s opinion
Well, before you can expect for someone else to want to hear you out, you have to be willing to hear what they would suggest first. Allowing someone the chance to speak, opens a dialogue for engagement. After they are done sharing their solutions to whatever problem, you can then have a chance to be listened too as well. You all can cogently discuss both your cases and research or whatever it may be while expressing your own stand point.
Don’t Be Negative
You can’t always be bringing up a problem but no solutions. When you have an issue with something, find a way to bring it up without making it stressful for others. Maybe start off by saying, “I think I know what this court case needs…” As opposed to, “such cases are always stressful”
It is important that every time you speak, you are worth being landed an ear too.
Acknowledge
When in a meeting, and someone else sayings something you recognize as being good, speak up about it. When you are known to be able to identify with good points, next time they might ask for your input.
Know When To Stop
When you want to speak on something in the work place, don’t become the person that takes up all the meeting minutes talking non-stop. When in the office, don’t centralize the whole conversation around without making a valid point. Never make a point without a story, Never make a story without a point.
